recently i got the toughest assignment ever! (for me anyways!) we needed to create a plaster mold and be able to replicate it a ton of times... we also have to 'install' it. so i made a foot cast, the first one was out of a gel mold and i filled it with plaster and it created my first plaster mold. well i couldn't replicate it because there were too many undercuts and it wouldn't be able to release itself from the mold. so i did a back up of the plaster gauze and did a replica of my foot. i covered it in clay to start my mold and it immediately began to soften and crumble! i ended up filling in the dented spaces with clay. i didn't turn out the way i wanted it to be but it wasn't a complete goner.
this is my first more detailed plaster replica of my foot. i poured plaster into it and it turned out great but it had too many undersuts to be able to sucessfully make a mold of it!
my second attempt of the plaster gause wrap turned out better until it collapsed when it absourbed the clays moisture!
So, did you ever successfully make a mold of your foot? I need to create a piece of glass art of a foot and need a mold. Just curious.
