the semi finished plaster peice...

well, it took a while but its almost there! i have a few more details and fine tuning, the face definatly needs to be twirked and i need to make more ruffles for the blanket. all in all it is turning out ok! ive never made a sculture out of plaster or anything for that matter. lol so i hope to do alot more with it and maybe give it to my neice when she gets a bit older.

plaster carving

our next project will be a plaster carving... I've never really worked with plaster but it seems like it will be pretty easy. i loved carving clay there was a lot you're able to work with! i plan to do a baby insight of my new niece being born! so hopefully it works out well and im able to get pictures of my niece before i have to start carving! :) ill write more later!

plaster mold assignment

recently i got the toughest assignment ever! (for me anyways!) we needed to create a plaster mold and be able to replicate it a ton of times... we also have to 'install' it. so i made a foot cast, the first one was out of a gel mold and i filled it with plaster and it created my first plaster mold. well i couldn't replicate it because there were too many undercuts and it wouldn't be able to release itself from the mold. so i did a back up of the plaster gauze and did a replica of my foot. i covered it in clay to start my mold and it immediately began to soften and crumble! i ended up filling in the dented spaces with clay. i didn't turn out the way i wanted it to be but it wasn't a complete goner.
this is my first more detailed plaster replica of my foot. i poured plaster into it and it turned out great but it had too many undersuts to be able to sucessfully make a mold of it!

my second attempt of the plaster gause wrap turned out better until it collapsed when it absourbed the clays moisture!

clay assignment

we resently were supposed to create something out of clay, i chose a hand because i beleive that that is one of the most important parts of our body not including our mind. well unfortunatly i left it in my car and it froze... on presintation day! yah, go me rite! i also created a minature grim reaper. they are currently both being fired by my teacher and i am in the middle of our plaster mold project!
after much frustrating moments and comeing early and staying late to class i made the mold.
next class i will be making multiple replicas of the mold. (my foot)
i still have yet to decide the installation but hopefully i will come up with something good by tomorrow! :)
wish me luck!
